Fego Café and Restaurant, a vibrant all-day dining brand with locations across the South East.
The Brief
To maintain safe dining capacity during COVID restrictions, Fego needed to create additional seating and retail space at its Gerrards Cross (Buckinghamshire) and Cobham (Surrey) sites.
Each venue required a long-term café marquee hire solution that reflected Fego’s signature atmosphere – bright, social and welcoming – while ensuring protection from the elements throughout the winter season and beyond. The structures needed to integrate with existing buildings and enable the brand’s interior design team, Turmeric House, to install its distinctive “urban garden” styling.
The Challenges
Each site presented unique spatial and operational constraints:
Gerrards Cross location:
- Required a structure linked to the rear of the café
- Build area included an existing storage container
- One side needed to incorporate a brick wall backdrop
- Hardstanding surface demanded secure weighting rather than ground stakes
- Heating system needed large fuel capacity for extended use
Cobham location:
- Extension required to the front elevation
- Tight footprint restricted by neighbouring boundaries and public footpaths
- Existing awning and infrared heaters demanded additional height clearance
- Hard surface required weighted anchoring
- Supplementary heating necessary to maintain comfort levels
Our Solution
LM Structures supplied and installed two custom café extensions on long-term hire, each tailored to its site and fully prepared for Fego’s interior team to complete the look.

Gerrards Cross location:
- Bespoke 11m × 9m temporary restaurant structure
- Clear-walled design, openable on three sides for ventilation and ambience
- Weather-sealed connection to the café using integrated rain gutters
- Solid weighting system for stability on the paved surface
- Marquee heater with large fuel tank for extended runtime
- Installation of client-supplied festoon lighting
Cobham location:
- 6m × 6m café marquee with 3m leg height to accommodate existing awning and overhead heating
- Clear PVC walls and multiple openable sides to mirror Fego’s indoor-outdoor feel
- Additional ceiling-mounted infrared heaters installed
- Electrical systems and lighting fitted by ECA-qualified electricians
- Weighted ballast for secure installation on hardstanding
Results
Both locations gained comfortable, weather-protected café extensions that allowed guests to enjoy Fego’s hospitality safely year-round.
The designs preserved natural light and connection to the outdoors, delivering a bright, airy “urban garden” aesthetic while providing practical, durable space for service teams.
Each temporary café building blended seamlessly with its surroundings, becoming a true extension of the brand experience.
