Client

Effingham Golf Club, a prestigious private members’ club in Surrey known for its heritage, hospitality and exceptional course setting.

Requirement

To comply with government restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, Effingham Golf Club needed a temporary dining structure that would enable members and guests to dine safely while maintaining distancing requirements. The space had to offer the same welcoming atmosphere as the clubhouse, complement the surrounding architecture and gardens, and be operational within a very short timeframe.

Challenges

  • Deliver a rapid-build dining facility that met safety and comfort requirements.
  • Design a space large enough to accommodate member dining turnover without compromising the relaxed, social atmosphere.
  • Ensure the temporary structure complemented the clubhouse’s elegant style and incorporated existing terrace landscaping, including hedges and olive trees.
  • Provide excellent visibility of the course while allowing plenty of natural light and air circulation.
  • Create a space versatile enough for casual dining, evening events and pre- or post-golf refreshments.

Our Solution

After consultation with the club management team, LM Structures designed and installed a 9 m × 12 m long-term hire structure that blended seamlessly with the existing terrace area. The project was delivered and operational within just one week of instruction.

Key Features

  • Fully openable side walls for maximum ventilation and an airy, open feel.
  • Clear window wall panels on three sides, providing natural light and uninterrupted course views.
  • Close-fit installation to the clubhouse entrance canopy for easy access and a cohesive look.
  • Secure fixings and anchored base for year-round stability.
  • Ambient lighting to ensure comfort for both daytime and evening use.
  • Integration of garden features within the footprint, retaining box hedging and olive trees as focal points of the dining space.

Outcome

The resulting temporary dining structure provided a refined and comfortable setting that allowed members and guests to dine safely without compromising the club’s standards of presentation and service.

The seamless integration of existing landscaping within the layout created a natural continuation of the clubhouse terrace, offering a relaxed, premium outdoor dining environment suitable for both everyday and event use.

Client Testimonial

“We’ve enjoyed a strong working relationship for over seven years, built on quality, reliability and professionalism. The latest installation sits perfectly over our terrace, incorporating hedging and olive trees to create a wonderful environment for our members and guests.”
